Goucher College is proud to announce a $1 million gift to the college from the Batza Family Foundation, which is founded by Patricia K. Batza ’91 and Michael J. Batza Jr. The leadership gift for the Science Innovation Center will support the construction and equipping of the new facility’s greenhouse.
This spring, Provost Elaine Meyer-Lee announced three faculty projects that would be funded by the Broad, Humane Perspective mini-grants. The projects will, as she wrote, “help us explore the ways in which we—as the college’s mission statement states—‘prepare students with a broad, humane perspective.’”

A Goucher education is designed to help students make an impact in the world. For senior Jack Topper, the impact he made doesn’t end at the Earth’s atmosphere. Last summer, Topper brought his Goucher experiences to NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center during his internship in their Heliophysics Science Division.
